I am unsure of all the changes that I need to make in order to accommodate such a swap. I found a special made conversion stem along with steering bearings that I want to buy and I found an entire GSXR front end fork, axle, triple tree, brake calipers. I've found some other '06 front ends that are a bit pricier but look better as well. Is this true? What other components may I need to replace in order to fit the front end?
Thanks for the help! I think both 'phoenix fighter' and 'wiers' used GSXR front ends on their bikes thoughI think they were both ccs Look up their build threads for more info.
I think it was the longest upsy-dupsy available at the time from the jap bikes anyway. Last edit: by davido. Unfortunately, wiers bought his bike with the front end already swapped out! I will check out phoenix fighter though. My only concern though, was the guy did not know what year it came from exactly. He said maybe a GSXR. Anyone have experience with swapping this fork on a KZ? Last edit: by blackbanshee. I plan on using the whole front end.
I don't like the idea of using the smaller wheel, but I'm kind of hosed so I will take the good with the bad. I'll have to get creative to try to maintain the steering geometry. I was going to buy a custom triple tree from cognitomoto. I will probably just weld on a spacer to my KZ steering stem to account for the change in length. Hi, just got my first xs Looking for the least work to swap out my front end, planning on putting 18 x 3. I found that gsxr bearing is usually 25mm and the xs is 1". Looking to do something similar to the attached photo. Feb 7, 2.
Welcome to the forum! The bike in your attached photo has the stock xs mag, trees, headlamp, ignition switch and forks. The only mods seem to be the chopped fender, stock bars replaced with clamp ons, gauges removed and maybe non stock headlight clamps. Feb 7, 3. Thank you!! Sorry I meant height wise, not the look lol. I am short so need something with that stance. Feb 7, 4. Buell also works well. Check out the build threads on this forum. B What year Hayabusa rotor will work? If there is a mm rotor that will also work, that would be preferable, as it saves me from spacing out the caliper citation.
C Speedo? Anyone have any first-hand experience with this? I just want to make sure I have all the fiddly bits squared away before I start buying the wrong parts. There's a bit more information on this type of setup over on DTT.
At one point, I was gonna follow this path, but once you tally everything up, it's super expensive. I have a Harley hub kicking around if you want it. There's also a member on DTT getting spoked front hubs made up for those front ends. All a man needs in this world is someone to love, if you can't give him that, give him hope, if you can't give him hope I will investigate.
I'll need calipers, bearings, and a rotor no matter what. What year is your Harley hub Narrow Glide? What goes between them? GSXR spacers? Machined spacers from the inaccurate measurement I take? If you have access to a lathe, you can modify your existing stock hub and combine I with several rotors. In the old app I could alphabetize all my photos by subject -the date thing doesn't work for me. This was the best service I've ever experienced. Everyone was nice, everything was simple, and I had the best vacation of my life (despite the uncooperative weather).
Our trip was amazing. The hotels and day trips were all very good. Hilmar was brilliant before we flew out to Iceland. Always very quick to respond, friendly and very informative with any questions we had. Was so lovely to have a bottle of champagne and lovely chocolates waiting for us in our room when we arrived. It made the start to our honeymoon very special. We even got to see the Northern Lights too on our second attempt. Superb holiday - thank you so much. We found the whole experience excellent.
There was a lot of driving, yet stress free apart from a blizzard. Doing a circular tour of the country was so interesting, after the first day we thought it may be a case of "same as" but every day was different and enjoyable. We were lucky 3 nights with the "lights" and some beautiful sunny days wonderful sights and beautiful countryside.
We have not hesitated to tell others of our experience and now find some friends and family have now added it to their 'bucket list'. Hilmar made scheduling the trip very easy.

The emails were very prompt and once we arrived, we were able to continue adding activities at the last minute with no trouble. The buses to and from sites were very nice and the guides were all so enthusiastic and friendly. Iceland is beautiful in the winter. The staff and quality of the tour and accommodation made it an excellent experience of Iceland. Iris Angela did a wonderful job putting it together for us. We all have great memories of our trip. Everything was truly wonderful.
The trip was amazing from the very beginning. From our pick up at Keflavik to our departure home, the tours were all amazing. Signy did an amazing job, and the added champagne and chocolates when we arrive (we were there for our honeymoon) were just so sweet. This was only my second time out of the United States, the first gong to Indonesia where my sister-in-law lived and provided all guidance.
Booking a trip like this was daunting for me but I was blessed to have Larus as my travel consultant. Larus always responded quickly to my questions and inquiries, and provided expert advice which were dead on accurate and helpful.
With Larus I never felt I was doing this alone and felt informed. I feel I need to credit Larus with a lot of the success of our trip. What Nordic Visitor provides travelers with is very impressive.
It seems that a lot of homework is done to scout out fantastic places to stay and make reservations for. From the moment we found their Iceland Winter World itinerary, we were sold on the price and the tour. Looking at the package offerings, we discovered they had built an itinerary around nearly every major site we had wanted to see in Iceland, and had taken the guesswork out of lodging arrangements and tour bookings. Each of the destinations was magnificent and we also did many of the suggested additional recommendations.
We would not have seen as much without the tour. Also, the hotel arrangements were terrific, and the voucher system made checking in very easy. We will be back. We simply loved our journey. The only thing is the cost of living and the exchange value of our canadian dollar.
But we were aware of this. Sofia made a perfect job to customize the tour and it the communications were easy and fast.
Thank you very much Sofia. We were able to see the midnight sun because of nordic visitor they have planned our tour very well and the local guides were very co operative.
We used Larus at Nordic Visitors to arrange a weeklong tour of Reykjavik and the Southern Coast of Iceland. We were extremely impressed with the quality of the services--and we have traveled extensively throughout the world. Larus was extremely responsive to our inquiries and tailored the perfect trip for us that allowed us to enjoy the country's beautiful scenery and to do a lot of great hiking. The travel plans were flawless--from the transfer at the airport, to the rental car and to the charming hotels he booked for us.
In fact, he even recommended stops along our itinerary for homemade ice cream. We would definitely use Nordic Visitor again for another trip to Iceland. We took their 17 day Grand Tour of Iceland. And they took care of our every want and need. From pre-planning to the last day of our visit, Nordic Visitor provided all of the assistance we needed.
There is no other way to see the entire country and travel in the style to which you are accustomed. We stayed in the best hotels around the Island. We enjoyed our SUV with all-wheel drive. We visited all of the sights that we wanted to see. They provide you with a loaner cellphone so that you can contact them at any point on your trip to get their help. And we never used it.
